May the strike never end!
God bless the striking Writers Guild of America. We've been spared at least one awards show!
LOS ANGELES - The Golden Globes and NBC agreed Monday to scrap the traditional show format, which faced picketing by striking writers, in favor of a news conference approach.
The move came after actors threatened to boycott the show in support of the writers guild.
"We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007's outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television," said Jorge Camara, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organizes the show.
Somehow, we'll go on.
